Description
GOIL Company Limited (GOIL) succeeded the marketing outfit of AGIP PETROLI S.P.A of Italy having 855,000 shares and SNAM SPA also of Italy with 95,000 shares. GOIL was established on 14th June 1960 under the Companies Ordinance (CAP 193) as AGIP Ghana Limited. On the 16th December 1968 the 95,000-shares were transferred to Hydrocarbons International Holdings of Zurich.
In 1974, the Government of Ghana acquired 100 percent shares and changed the name to Ghana Oil Company Limited. In 2019, the Company changed its name to GOIL Company Limited, to reflect its growth and expansion activities/ventures in the petroleum sector and other industries. The Ministry of Energy represents the government in all its dealings with the Company.
The Company’s main business is marketing and distribution of petroleum products in Ghana. The biggest chunk of its sales comes from the sale of diesel and gasoline.
GOIL’s mission focuses on marketing quality petroleum and other energy products and services in a safe, ethical, healthy, environmentally friendly and socially responsible manner. The Company is manned by a management team including the Managing Director/Group Chief Executive.
